After the lost of the Set1 Earth Ring the PCs tracked it to a ‘hideout’ near the graveyard. They realized the house was occupied by a bunch of thieves and mercenaries and the Set1 Earth Ring was in the basement. Using Zoq’s Dimension Door they got the Frank and Cappleton to the basement first and surprised the head thief. They got the rest of the PCs into the basement while Frank and Cappleton continued fighting. The PCs then successfully defeated the thief and several of his mercenaries and recovered the Set1 Earth Ring.
Note, during the battle in the basement Barky had his ‘familiar’ “strafing the windows on the second floor”. This was in the early afternoon, on a relatively busy road.
The PCs were in their temporary hideout – the half sunken boat. It started to sink the rest of the way. The PCs abandon ship. Frank is attacked by a shark, the PCs trap the shark in a stone dome (stone wall shaped that way). The PCs do not know why the ship moved from being half sunk to fully sunk, where the shark came from or why Loveric had to make a saving throw for Cappleton.
After this event the PCs return to the sewers (the old hangout) thru the blown up sewer entrance they blocked up. They unblocked the entrance to get access, which was a good thing since for city, because the blockage had allowed the sewage to build up (there was maybe 1 or 2 more days before this was a real problem for the city) but a bad thing for the PCs because they got covered. After some discussions of building/establishing an under ground base or safehouse in the sewers somewhere, the PCs start looking for clues.
Also at this time Zoq discovers a holy area in the town – the original townhall, now a local museum with a small park area in front of it. Zoq located the holy area after the Quentin found out that Lord S… (who has Set#1 Water Ring) is the head or high up in he evil church of XXXX, which is now emerging in the city.
The PCs (minus Zoq) run into some orcs. But orcs with a twist, they are all wearing exploding armor. When the armor is struck with an edged weapon, it has a good percentage chance of exploding. Killing the orcs and damaging whoever hit the orc and those nearby. The explosion also has chance of triggering other exploding armor. If the armor is hit with fire damage the explosion seems automatic. Blunt weapons can make the armor explode, but the chances seem small.
After Cappleton questioned one of the dead orcs, the PCs went off looking for the Fire Wu-Jen with the Set#2 Fire ring (Zoq also rejoined the PCs at this time).
The PCs found a passage that lead to the area where the Fire Wu-Jen was. Got past some guards (exploding armored orcs), a (not) concealed door, and some more orcs. Found a room where some mining had taken place, then found another room with some mining activity. This is where an ambush was set up by the Fire Wu-Jen and the exploding-armor orcs. With the use of their own rings the PCs kept the orcs from swarming them and were able to defeat them. The Fire Wu-Jen was not seen and the PCs know a bunch of orcs got away (or were restrained from entering from entering the room).
